"Everything dies, baby, that's a fact, but maybe everything that dies someday comes back."
Well, as of November 22, my free trial of Sirius radio is over. It's been six months of glory days...90% of the music I listen to is Bruce Springsteen, who has his own channel on Sirius. I don't know that I am willing to pay for this service, which they've offered to me for a good price. I have made a conscious decision to cut back on a lot of things these days, and I think I'd rather go back to pedicures than pay for satellite radio.
Good thing I own all the cds:)
And have a 6-cd changer in my car.
Thanks, Ford, for a great six months of Bruce.
I'll "search for you on the other side."
Saw a concert on TV tonight. There's no denying this man is a-maz-ing!
Love you Bruce!
Let me just say this first. I love In-N-Out. But I almost died when I realized that I just consumed this the other day:
Double-double: 670 calories
Fries: 400 calories
STOP!
That's all I should have consumed that day.
Lemonade: 180 calories (but, I had two), so 360 calories
In all, I consumed 1430 calories in about 15 minutes. Never mind the 59 grams of fat that comes with it. FIFTY-NINE!!
That was about all the motivation I needed to get my butt in gear.
Gross.
Ok, I was born in NJ. I love it there. Also, I hate some of it. But what native New Jerseyan, Garden Stater, Jerseyite, doesn't?
When we arrived at Newark Airport, we had a straight shot view of the city. That would be New York city for you west coasters:), not Newark.
Also, you can almost smell the bagels. And the Dunkin' Donuts coffee. We seriously need to get one of those here. I would probably single-handedly keep it in business. That is the damn truth. I would drink that coffee anytime of day or night because I love it that much. I try buying it in the bag, and brewing it myself, but it is NOT the same. They make it (with cream and sugar please) so much better. It's magic in a cup.
Anyway, on with the trip. This was basically a tag along trip for me. My mom had to go see my grandma who really doesn't like to travel anymore, and help her with some financial stuff (paying off her house, etc.). So I thought, well I haven't been to NJ in about eight years, so why not!? I had so much fun. I just loved being there. We stayed on LBI which is the place that everyone goes in the summer for a week or two or a month, and they all know each other because they go every year or they all live close to each other up north.
OMG, the food People. People. It is seriously done right on the east coast. Bagels. No one beats 'em. Pizza. Crust so thin you can almost see through it. Ice cream. Little stands everywhere where the teenage girls work and the teenage boys hit on them every night. Seafood. Well, duh. Little neck clams, lobster, you name it. Amazing. It's like walking through a Bruce Springsteen song. For real.
I got no time for the corner boys
Down in the street making all that noise
Or the girls out on the avenue
`cause tonight i wanna be with you
Tonight I'm gonna take that ride
Across the river to the Jersey side
Take my baby to the carnival
And I'll take her on all the rides
`cause down the shore everything's all right
You and your baby on a Saturday night
You know all my dreams come true
When I'm walking down the street with you
My last post was July 7. I'm thinking that this blog doesn't really play a part in my life anymore. I do read quite often, but I don't know why I don't have much of a desire to write anything. So here is what will probably be my last post.
- So, yeah. I got married. Alicia and I committed our lives together on August 8. It was as good as anybody could ask for, and that was only because we had such amazing family and friends helping and celebrating with us. I'm thrilled to death to wake up every morning next to the woman I love and cherish. She is somebody who reminds me most of God and loves me almost as much as He does.
- We honeymooned in San Francisco. Thanks be to the folks for providing an awesome hotel room right in the City. We took the train so we wouldn't have to worry about parking and the like. However, we did a ton of walking. We were continually worn out. Yet, the fact that I gained six pounds should be a testament to how much and how well we ate.
- My church has moved 5 miles away into our own building. I am now a youth pastor with my own youth room. I am so excited to be able to paint it, mess it up, and have it all my own 24/7. Woot!
- Alicia and I started painting our guest bedroom last night. I love making our house our home.
- It is a really good time to be me. I'm very happy in life. I love the ring on my left hand and who it represents. Perhaps I'm ending this blog on a high note. Who knows? Eh, most of you are Facebook friends with me anyway and knew all this. Christopher Loyd Ashley, if you're interested in finding me. Thanks!
All I do everyday is think about the crappiness that is my job, trying to find a new job, stressing about money, and all of the above all over again.
This has led to a very bad habit of too many happy hours during the middle of the week. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a good martini every once in a while, but four on a Wednesday night? Uh-oh. Houston, we have a problem.
This has also led to me abandoning my early morning gym habit (which is a much better habit than vodka). Corissa started emailing me a list of foods consumed in a day in order to (her words) shame herself into eating better. I am, of course, doing the same. Actually, it might even make a good book...hmmm.
Anyway, give me your best motivating speeches people! I need a good kick in the pants.
