A Christmas Meme
- Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper, unless it's one of those "unwrappables." Next year, though, I want to make my own paper out of recycled newsprint.
- Real tree or artificial? I'd rather have real, but my $14 IKEA fake tree works for now.
- When do you put up the tree? The weekend after Thanksgiving, or perhaps the weekend after.
- One time I took it down on Christmas Eve because I was so tired of bumping into it and knocking ornaments off (it was in an inconvenient place) and I knew I would be at my parents' for Christmas day. Now I usually take it down a week or so after Christmas.
- Do you like eggnog? I didn't until Tuesday when my aunt brought pumpkin egg nog. Yum! But it was weird. I don't like pumpkin. I don't like egg nog. Perhaps it was the brandy...
- Favorite gift received as a child? Legos. Legos, legos, and legos.
- Hardest person to buy for? Grandma.
- Easiest person to buy for? Mom.
- Do you have a nativity scene? Yes. It's a modern poured glass nativity that my grandma got for me a few years ago. It's very different than traditional creches, but I love it. It's one of the things I'd save if my house was on fire.
- Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail.
- Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I can't think of one.
- Favorite Christmas Movie? A Christmas Story and Elf.
- When do you start shopping? Sometime around Thanksgiving.
- Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No.
- Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Cookies, cookies, and then some cookies.
- Lights on the tree? Of course! White. I loved my mom's blinky ones (they were such an elegant blinky...) but I have plain old white ones.
- Favorite Christmas song? "We Three Kings" and "O Holy Night."
- Travel at Christmas or stay home? I travel loooong distances to go home for the holidays. My parents live an ENTIRE MILE from me. Over the hills and through the woods...
- Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Perhaps if I've had enough egg nog. I learned this year it's not Donner, but DONDER. What's up with that?
- Angel on the tree top or a star? Star. My mom's angel fell off the tree and hit me in the head this year. We are NOT friends anymore. (The angel, I mean. My mom and I are fine.)
- Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? One on Christmas Eve, the rest sometime on Christmas day.
- Most annoying thing about this time of the year? When people don't see this season for what it really is.
- Favorite ornament theme or color? Many of my ornaments are in the shape of food. My mom got me a pickle on year, and it's gone on from there (she gets me a new one each year) -- pizza, cup of cappucino, radish, corn, carrot, fish, pineapple, strawberry, ice cream, garlic, red pepper, bottle of champagne, peas in a pod, apple, tomato...I got a sparkly avocado this year!
- Favorite for Christmas dinner? We eat Indian food (long story) on Christmas. My favorite is the mattar paneer (cheese and peas).
- What do you want for Christmas this year? A few days off to enjoy the wintry weather and the company of my family. Peace on earth and goodwill toward men. And an iPod because some jerk stole mine.
- Who is most likely to respond to this? Any one of a dozen people in my neighborhood.
- Who is least likely to respond to this? Jen, Noelle, and Steve, because I already got their responses via email.

Ok...cause I am a geek, and have a veritable font of useless info, Donder and Blitzen...reference the German words for Thunder and Lightening. Tad more apropos for magical beings who can fly around the world in a night pulling a fat man and a sleigh full of toys than oh say...Vixen, Cupid, and Prancer.
I've read lots of people's answers to this, and "O Holy Night" is mentioned quite frequently. It's one of my favorites, too, but it can be a monster to sing. When somebody does it right, it's magic.
