A Wednesday Hodgepodge

That is exactly the way i felt when my school book club picked Steve King's Salem's Lot. That was 600 + pages and i do eventually get around to teaching. However, the new book chosen for next month id Lost Horizons, which is cool because i haven't read that one and it doesn't look more than 200 pages in paperback...

And get a life! Its too cold to run in California?!!!!!!!! Ya outta be ashamed 'o yourself ;o)

I love bullet points. I really do. That alone makes this a good post. Add in your cryptic post it notes and it's awesome. Although, I am deducting some awesomeness points for rubbing it in that you are going to TX to visit Jen. :-)

Stranger Danger! (We were just talking at lunch about how people in California seem to know their neighbors less than in other places I've lived...)

I checked out Neal Stephenson's "Anathem" from the library and it is -- I kid you not -- 960 pages! I'll be reading that until March or April!!

And yes, very jealous!

I'm just impressed I get my own bullet point AND my own tag...

Ironic how Coca-Cola overlooks sweatshops and yet this past year they were rated the most family-friendly company in advertising.

I'm TOTALLY jealous that you get to go visit Jen.

So, after cleaning out your purse and finding those notes, did you still remember what you were trying to tell yourself? If it was me, I'd forget.

Not a list, but you can look up particular companies and find their business practices.

It might make you want to move onto a commune and farm your own food and make your own clothes, though.

Did I mention that it's also DARK in addition to the "cold"? :)

Nah nah nah nah nah nah -- I get to see Jen!

Crap...I just lost *all* my awesome points...

We really are isolated from our neighbors out here, aren't we? I'd like to know that if my house was on fire that someone would actually give me a call!

Ha! I wondered if you'd look at my tags. :)

I can only remember bits and pieces of what was on those notes. I really have NO clue what this is: Karrie #08434463 IVRII330846. Hmmm...

Thank you! I appreciate the link.

*off to churn my own butter*

Great post, especially your forgotten Post-It's. I'm sure they made perfect, obvious sense when you wrote them.

"You Can't Go Home Again" was a great book, but I'd never recommend it to anyone. Thomas Wolfe was more personal for me, like watching Bergman films. "Look Homeward, Angel" was a true classic. The sequel is worth the read, but it does take some work. Good luck. (And check out Bergman's "Fanny och Alexander" too, while you're at it. ;-) )
I love the cryptic notes from your purse. Do you know about the "Found Notes" site? http://www.foundmagazine.com/ One of my favorite places.

My bookclub members whine and sob if a book has more than a couple hundred pages. And they often don't finish that. Will the people in your club actually read it? In time?
This book was actually chosen back at the November meeting. Since our book club would have fallen on the 25th of December, which, obviously, was Christmas, a longer book was chosen to cover two months worth of reading.

Of course...I didn't get the book until I had only one month yet. Go me!
