Couch to 5k -- another update
Sheena and I started week five of the C25k last night. We're more than halfway through the program! Four short weeks (ha) and we should be able to run an entire 5k. I can't wait!
Last night's run was to run for five minutes, walk for three, run for five, walk for three, and run for five. Sheena and I finished the whole thing without too much difficulty, although our jogging is a little slow so I'm not sure we made the whole two miles this run should have covered. Probably closer to a mile and three-quarters. It's hard to pick up the pace when you're already running more than you ever had before.
And considering I could barely run sixty seconds in the beginning, we are definitely making progress. My muscles in my calves and ankles are doing much better, and my arches haven't hurt in over a week. It's like my legs went, "FINE. Jerk. We can see you're not going to stop this running stuff, so we guess we'll get with the program."
I did miss my Saturday run last week. I woke up feeling uuuggghhh, so I skipped the run. I hope I never have to do that again. If I do, I'll have to start repeating lessons and I don't want to do that.
I can't wait to finally be able to consistently run three miles and a bit. I'm not sure if I'll take it further, but for now, running three miles three times a week seems like an acheivable goal.

Good for you Cori! Progess should be all the motivation you need.
Two tips, if I may present them: (assuming you said ok)...
*Invest in a good pair of running shoes. They're not cheap, but absolutely necessary as you add time and distance to your runs.
*I recall from one of your past posts that you're not a music person...I personally can't live without it, and need it especially on my runs to distract my screaming lungs and shin splints. You might want to try an audio book or *gasp* a self help podcast, etc.
Good luck!
Thank you!
I have a fairly nice pair of running shoes (that weren't cheap), but I'll probably upgrade at some point. My roommate really needs to upgrade -- I can't believe how far she runs in her old shoes!
If I run by myself, I grab my iPod which has a On The Go playlist that works. But usually I have my roommate and together we motivate each other. It's great!
Well, good luck with your running program.
I've had to stop at weeks 6, its just too cold at this time of year to run. Looks like I'll have to pick it back up in the spring again.
